Experienced gardeners know how important it is to find the right type of radish. Its yield, taste, ripening time depend on this. Due to the peculiarities of the Siberian climate, it is necessary to select the right varieties.

Further in the article, we will talk about how the climate of Siberia differs from other regions and what varieties of radish are recommended to be selected for planting in order to get the best quality harvest. You will see a photo of the varieties with a detailed description of them.

Climate features

Siberian climate depends on regions... In its western part, the climate is continental. This territory is well protected by the Ural Mountains, so it is not affected by the Atlantic air masses. In the warm season (from April to September), cool winds blow from the Arctic Ocean. Cyclones and anticyclones bring cold arctic air masses.

In the cold season, a dry wind comes from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which makes the weather sunny and frosty. Unlike the European part of Russia, the weather in Siberia is stable. The average annual moisture content is about 300-600 mm. Most of the rainfall occurs in summer and autumn. Snow falls about 100 mm. Most of the territories of western Siberia are swamps.

Winter in the northern part lasts about 9 months, in the middle - 7 months, and in the south - 5 months. The average winter temperature in the southern part of western Siberia is -16 ° C, and in the northern part —30 ° C. Average temperatures in the summer months range from + 1 ° C in the north to + 20 ° C in the south.

In Eastern Siberia, the climate is sharply continental, dry and harsh. In winter, southerly winds also prevail, which contributes to the establishment of clear and frosty weather. Dry wind from Asia also prevails in spring and summer, but sometimes it is replaced by sea air masses from the Pacific Ocean and Arctic icy winds. Precipitation falls unevenly, from 250 to 800 mm per year.

Because of these factors, the planting of radishes in Siberia begins later and ends earlier than in the European part of Russia.

Selection rules

For Siberia, it is necessary to choose cold-resistant varieties... Depending on the region, the root crop must also be resistant to dryness or moisture. Early-maturing varieties are suitable for growing in spring: they allow you to quickly get a harvest, while there are still no pests. And also they are less sick with fungal and viral diseases.
