You will find a full description of the variety in our article. And also read everything about the characteristics and features of growing.

Tomato "Flamingo" F1: description of the variety

The Flamingo F1 tomato is a hybrid of the first generation. According to some sources, the plant is semi-determinate. Such varieties have a height of up to 100 cm and more, but do not require particularly careful maintenance. The stem is not formed.

Hybrids, in contrast to the variety, are bred with the highest quality traits (size, taste, yield, storage) and with the highest percentage of resistance to diseases and bad weather conditions. The only negative sign of a hybrid is the inability to produce good offspring from its seeds - the fruits can be extremely different from the parental fetus.

The stem is resistant, bristly, medium leafy, grows above 1 m, some experts advise pinching the tops above the fifth inflorescence. Simple type brushes - average number. Rhizome is powerful, well developed in different directions without deepening.

Leaves are large, typical "tomato", light green, slightly wrinkled, without pubescence. The inflorescence is simple, intermediate type. The first inflorescence is formed above 8-9 leaves, then they are formed with an interval of 1-2 leaves. The peduncle is articulated.

By the time of ripening, the plant is medium early, after full shoots only 115 days pass, the fruits begin to ripen. "Flamingo" has a high degree of resistance to most diseases: cladosporium, verticellosis, tobacco mosaic, fusarium, nematode (and its species). Suitable for open and closed ground.

Characteristics

Advantages:

  • early maturity
  • unpretentiousness
  • high yield
  • large beautiful fruits
  • high taste
  • resistance to disease, cold weather.

The hybrid has no drawbacks, except for the impossibility of fruiting for the next season. Flamingo tomatoes are resistant to fruit cracking. Fruits on the plant crack with a sharp change in humidity due to changes in night and day temperatures. These tomatoes do not react strongly to temperature changes.

Flamingo fruits are well formed and develop, ripen slowly, but finally on time. Flamingos have a beautiful shape suitable for sales. For the whole season from 1 sq. m. collect up to 30 kg of fruit. From 1 plants, about 5 kg are collected at the first collection, then a little less. In greenhouses, the yield is higher.

You can compare the yield of this variety with others in the table below:

Variety nameYield

Description of the fruit:

  • The shape is rounded, flattened at the top and bottom.
  • The dimensions are large, about 7-10 cm in diameter, weight - from 100 g.
  • The skin is dense, smooth, shiny, thin.
  • The color of unripe fruits is light green with darkening at the stalk, ripe fruits are bright red.
  • The seeds are arranged in 4 - 5 chambers (nests).
  • The pulp is fleshy, juicy, tasty, the amount of dry matter is average.

You can compare the weight of fruits with other varieties in the table below:

The harvested crop is stored perfectly, dense tomatoes do not lose their shape and do not rot if properly stored until the new year. Such tomatoes tolerate transportation without consequences. Tomatoes are stored in a dark, dry place at room temperature, without drops.

Flamingos have excellent taste and wonderful aroma. Application - universal, suitable for fresh consumption, after freezing or hot processing. Canning is possible, dense fruits do not lose their shape, do not crack and do not lose their taste when salting, pickling. Suitable for the production of tomato paste, sauces, juice.

Growing features

The hybrid is designed for growing in any territory of the Russian Federation. More favorable for these tomatoes are the Central regions and the Eastern regions. At the level of planting seeds for seedlings, semi-determinant tomatoes are no different from others. Seeds must be disinfected in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Some gardeners use a solution with some soap suds to disinfect.

Loamy or sandy loam soil is also treated with a disinfecting solution, heated to 25 degrees. In mid-March, seeds are planted in a common container to a depth of no more than 2 cm, the distance between plants is about 2 cm. Freshly planted seeds are watered and covered with polyethylene to form a certain moisture content. Germination temperature is needed about 25 degrees.

When seedlings appear, the polyethylene is removed. A pick is made after the appearance of 2 leaves... Picking (transplanting into separate containers) is required! With a common root system, plants develop only up to a certain point, then it is necessary to develop an individual rhizome.

When the plants are about 60 days old, transplanting into the ground is possible. Plants by this time should be hardened and reach about 25 cm. Seedlings overgrowing in semi-determinant tomatoes should not be allowed, flowering seedlings should not be planted in the ground!

The temperature after transplantation should be above 15 degrees. Otherwise, the consequences are short stature. Planting at a distance of about 50 cm. Watering under a bush with warm water abundantly, not often. Top dressing every 2 weeks with mineral fertilizers. Loosening, weeding as needed.

The bush is formed into 2 stems, about 8 fruits are left on the brushes. Passionking is not required. Tying, if necessary, individual branches to vertical trellises.

Diseases and pests

Disinfection of seeds and soil is carried out to stop diseases at the root. Preventive spraying with microbiological preparations against diseases and pests is carried out several times per season.

Tomato variety "Flamingo F1" is one of the best semi-determinant Russian tomatoes that do not require special attention to themselves and bring an excellent harvest. We wish you great harvests on your plots!
