"Rogneda" is a medium late variety, on average 115 - 120 days pass from the emergence of the main shoots to technical maturity.

The technical maturity of potatoes means that the tubers are suitable for storage, have a dense skin (although tubers of conditional maturity can also be eaten - with a thin, lagging skin).

The bush is large, tall, semi-erect. It has leaves of an intermediate type, typical for potatoes in shape, wrinkled in structure, without pubescence, slightly wavy at the edges. The size of the leaves is medium, the color is light green (green). Has a medium-sized flower corolla, white color (low content of anthocyanins - substances that determine color).

Root description:

  1. The peel is pale yellow (sandy), dense, smooth.
  2. The eyes are small, of medium depth.
  3. The color of the pulp is creamy.
  4. Shape - oval, rounded - oblong.
  5. The starch content is in accordance with table varieties - from 13% to 19%.
  6. Weight - from 80 g to 120 g.

Climatic zones

Favorable growing areas - North-West and Central region of the Russian Federation. Grown throughout Russia and in other countries - Ukraine, Moldova, taking into account the variety of cultivation technologies.

Reference. In different regions, different varieties of potatoes are planted, developed for a specific zone, different planting depths, different amounts of irrigation, dressings are needed.

Productivity and methods of consumption

The yield of "Rogneda" is quite high, about 300 centners per hectare, which corresponds to the established standard; under favorable conditions and proper care, the indicators increase to 450 centners and more per hectare (75 tons per hectare).

"Rogneda" is a table variety intended for consumption after heat treatment, and there are a great many recipes for potato dishes. Useful substances will be preserved in full when cooking potatoes in their skins ("in their uniforms").

Only root vegetables with a dense (hard) consistency can be eaten, shriveled tubers are suitable for eating, but they will not bring benefits.

Taste qualities

Rogneda potatoes have good taste - they are not very sweet, they boil well. Yellow varieties contain a lot of vitamins, to a greater extent - carotene (antioxidant), because of it the tubers are yellow.

Important! Rogneda potatoes are ideal for mashed potatoes; when cooked over low heat, they become tender and soft in consistency.

Advantages and disadvantages

It has no drawbacks, some negative qualities are possible in the form of small root crops, the presence of a large amount of liquid in potatoes, under adverse weather conditions and improper care.

Dignity :

  • excellent taste;
  • high content of vitamin C;
  • plentiful harvest of large potatoes;
  • marketable condition;
  • long storage;
  • well resistant to most diseases, drought;
  • has resistance to mechanical damage;
  • not picky about the type of soil.

The variety was bred by breeders from Belarus. The originator is the RUE "Scientific and Production Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato and Horticulture". Included in the State Register of the Russian Federation for the North-West Region in 2011.

Variety characteristics and cultivation features

Seed potatoes for planting are usually taken from last year's harvest or purchased in stores. Potatoes "Rogneda" are planted in May in any type of soil to a depth of about 7 cm with a distance between plants of 20 cm, sometimes less or more, depending on the region.

Also, on the advice of experienced gardeners, "Rogneda" should be planted less often than other varieties because of the well-developed numerous root crops. The planting method is in furrows or in individual depressions in open ground.

Important! In areas with high humidity, planting on a hill (on the beds) is necessary.

Potatoes respond well to rested soil (where mustard or rye, other perennial or annual plants, grain - legumes have been sown for a year or two) or on new plowed areas.

Important! It makes no sense to plant potatoes on non-disinfected areas of the soil where a tomato grew last year or in the vicinity of nightshades - these plants have a number of the same diseases.

"Rogneda" should be loosened and hilled several times per season, fertilized with mineral fertilizers, weeded as needed. In dry summers, some watering is necessary, infrequently and not abundantly, the variety is drought tolerant.

The variety is multi-tuberous (from 10 pieces), intensively develops tubers, providing a good harvest. Seedlings and growth of tops are friendly and active. Mulching will help control weeds.

For diseases and pests, preventive actions are required in smaller quantities than usual.

The variety is stored for a long time, subject to the temperature regime - favorable keeping quality at zero temperatures, up to 3 degrees above zero in well-ventilated dry rooms.

Diseases and pests

Resistant to golden cystose-forming potato nematode, late blight of tops and tubers, and cancers. Has good resistance to wrinkled and striped mosaics.

They have an average degree of resistance to scab, black leg, anthracnose, ditelenchiasis, dry fusarium rot, viruses S, L, M.

To combat the most common pest, the Colorado potato beetle and its larvae, they are sprayed with microbiological preparations.

Plowing the soil and removing excess grass helps from the wireworm. Read more about methods of getting rid of it here. Often, plantings are threatened by insects such as potato moths, bears, butterfly scoops, leafhoppers and aphids. Read about the fight against them on the site.

The Rogneda potato variety will delight any gardener with the number and size of tubers, unpretentiousness and good taste.
