Although we often do not pay particular attention to what certain types of foods contain and what nutrients they are able to bring to our bodies, since they take second place to the importance of taste, in reality there are foods that can substantially improve a particular pathology. Specifically, for example, red fruits, although many people are not aware of them, are rich in flavonols and antioxidants, substances typical of the vegetable kingdom that can improve the lifestyle of anyone who decides to take them regularly; blueberries, therefore, are a valid aid for many reasons, first of all to prevent the onset of cardiovascular diseases. The blueberry is nothing but the berry of the Vaccinium Myrtillus plant, a small shrub (maximum 60 centimeters high) that grows mainly in mountainous areas and on soils rich in humus with flowering, in most cases, in the spring season; although berries are often confused with one another, it should be noted that the blueberry has mainly two species, namely the black one and the red one, both belonging to the same family and different not only in color, but also in the types of leaves . Both, however, are used both in the food sector (the black one as a dessert and fruit, the red one for the jams) and in the medicinal field to treat multiple diseases. To be specified, finally, that because of its highly beneficial substances, the blueberry is having a strong development, above all in the form of juice, that is a concentrated blueberry based drink; below, a brief description of the beneficial properties of both the blueberry and the red bilberry, in the form of juice.
The black blueberry, compared to the red one, is the richest in beneficial substances and, therefore, the most used in the form of juice; this species of blueberry, in fact, is rich in sugars, acids (citric, oxalic, folic, hydrocinnamic and gamma-linolenic), vitamin B9, tannins, anthocyanins and flavonols, all very important to fight urinary tract infections, strengthen blood vessels improving their permeability, counteracting free radicals and making the connective tissues that support the circulatory system stronger and more elastic. But the cranberry juice is also used for all those disorders related to the digestive system, such as liver and intestine, as it is able to fight the possible presence of carcinogenic substances present, precisely, in the digestive tract. But the beneficial properties of the blueberry do not end there, as the intake of this berry is also recommended to counteract infections that can affect the urinary tract; the blueberry, in fact, is capable of intervening on the structure of the bacteria making them practically harmless and preventing them from binding to the cells.
The cranberry, on the other hand, in addition to having leaves completely different from those of the blueberry, and being used in the kitchen to prepare excellent jams, are rich in vitamin C and iron; the consumption of cranberry juice, therefore, is recommended to fight urinary tract infections (such as cystitis and mycosis), as it can decrease the amount of bacteria and, in the case of calculi, also calcium present in the urine. Cranberry juice, then, is a real panacea for colon irritation that can lead to diarrhea or constipation, as well as counteracting hemorrhoids. Unlike the cranberry juice, the cranberry juice is also consumed to improve, from the aesthetic point of view, the skin in the presence of couperose, or small broken capillaries that lead to the creation of areas of the face characterized by permanent redness . The cranberry, in fact, leads to the strengthening of the walls of blood vessels and capillaries, with the consequent improvement in circulation, especially in the presence of sensitive and irritable skin.
Recipe for DIY Blueberry Juice
Cranberry juice can be found in large supermarkets and hypermarkets, as well as in stores specializing in the sale of organic and natural products; a good idea, however, to consume it without too many problems is to create it yourself. To prepare an excellent homemade blueberry juice, rich in beneficial substances and, above all, genuine, the use of very few ingredients, a few moves, and little time is required; first wash well under running water and soak for about 200 grams of black or red blueberries for a few minutes, depending on your preferences. With the help of a blender try to get a mush of blueberries, then add some water until you reach a juice with the consistency you prefer; finally add the juice of a squeezed lemon and sweeten with honey, sweetener or sugar, according to your personal taste.
